Church Meeting at Guilden Morden

Last night I went to a church meeting, as the title suggests. I arrived there early but did not leave there until around 11.10pm!! We had a great time of discussion about youth, reaching the local community and possible activities that could take place to attract people to the church, but in all of it the question kept coming out as to why we do what we do. Is it to 'get more people into church', to increase the social footprint of the church in the local community or make disciples of Jesus Christ? Could it be that the former could help as part of the process towards the latter?
During the discussion, one interesting point that was made was to do with who our friends are and the conclusion was that we tend to mix with people of a similar age to us so this can be a barrier to 'older' congregations reaching out to 'younger' people. Again, food for thought.
